Favorite Foundations!

Hey Everyone! So I haven't fashion blogged much this week, mostly because of sucky weather and a lack of transitional clothes. But I just got a new job, so hopefully soon I can do some shopping and resume normal fashion blogging. Anyway, I wanted to do a favorite foundations review for you all today!

So first off I'm going to talk about the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizers. I have these in two shades, one is Porcelain and the other is Bisque. I can either mix them or use one or the other depending on how tan I am. I absolutely love this product for two things, one when I am having a really good skin day and the other for summer. When I don't want a layer of foundation on my skin I definitely use these, as it's very light and low coverage. It's also great in the summer for going out because it is so light. The only thing I would caution is, it's more oily than a typical foundation. If I wear it for too many days I will start to break out. So I don't use this product as a daily foundation.

Next I will talk about my Touche Eclat foundation from YSL. This was a long time favorite of mine. I used it throughout all of fall and most of winter. It's another great really love converge foundation, it also smells really good. I have dry skin so I like this because it doesn't stick to dry patches as much as other foundation. This product has a very dewy, summery finish that I love for a year round foundation. The only thing that irks me about this foundation is if I don't use a primer it doesn't last all day. Especially on my nose and chin where foundation doesn't like to stay.

While we're on the light coverage products I'll also talk about the Garnier BB Cream. I believe I have this in the light/medium color. It's a bit too tan for me but it's nice in the summer when I am tan. This BB Cream has a super dewy, gorgeous glow to it I haven't found in another foundation. I would say it has more coverage than the Laura Mericer tinted moisturizer but still less then Touche Eclat. This is another foundation that I would recommend for dry skin and definitely avoid if you have oily skin. I strictly use this in the summer also.

Moving on to foundations with more coverage, Makeup Forever HD foundation is incredible. I bought this foundation and wasn't to crazy about it, but after coming back and using again, it is my favorite at the moment. It has more of a matte finish to it and a medium to high coverage level. This foundation lasts all day on me, but if my skin is dry I don't use this foundation. It's definitely made for normal to oily skin types. This is a fantastic product if you need a bit more coverage though, with a semi matte finish.

Now, high coverage foundations! I purchased Chanel Vitalumiere a bit more than a year ago, and I still love it. For me personally, I think Chanel excels at coloring. This foundation is the closest I have to my skin tone, which is more pink than yellow. So by far my favorite thing about this foundation is the color. It goes on very wet and almost runny, but after setting it has a matte, very light powdered look to it. It's a medium-high coverage, but I would definitely say it leans more towards a high coverage foundation. I love this foundation for going out, because it is so high coverage and it has relatively good staying power. I would use this foundation more in the colder months, but I also think it could be used year round because it has very buildable coverage.

Lastly, Estee Lauder Double Wear. This was the very first foundation I ever owned, and I love it. It definitely is a very high coverage foundation with incredible lasting power. Because it is so high coverage I rarely use it. This foundation is definitely marketing more towards oily and normal combo skin types. It's a great foundation if you've just had a breakout and need to cover any kind of scarring, or if you skin is being really uneven. I don't think I would recommend this for a normal foundation, but for any problem skin days, this should be in your makeup bag.

Alright, hope you guys enjoyed! xx
Do comment if you use any of these foundations and tell me what you think!

I'm Going to College

Hey everyone! Today I went downtown to my University. Here is what I wore, complete with some collegic scenery.

I went with a classic black look today featuring my tench coat. I wanted to go for an all black look because it may be my last opportunity for the winter, that is if spring ever comes.

I ended up wearing Harem Pants (because they are so freaking comfortable), my turtle-neck crop top, and a leather jacket under my trench. I think when you visiting colleges and walking around a lot, it's really important to be comfortable and in my opinion dress casually. This outfit was great because I had layers. I had a teacher who once told me one of the rules of success is to dress in layers. So true.

CLOTHING WORN:
Jacket - H&M
Crop Top - Nordstroms
Harem Pants - H&M
Trench Coat - Michael Kors
Slip-Ons - Top Shop
Here's some more photos of campus and myself.

Pitt is an urban campus, but they do have a park across from the Cathedral.

Meet Cathy.

Chilling on the steps outside.

And here is the glorious, Hogwarts-like inside.

The Cathedral of Learning is such an amazing piece of gothic architecture, right here in America.

And there's some seriously sick photo ops.

This is the Heinz Chapel. You can only be married in this Chapel if you are a Pitt Alumni, or a Heinz Employee I believe.

 AND OUTTAKES!

Posey, Posey...

Smile, you're on campus!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. xx

Spring Makeup!

Hey everyone! I wanted to do something a little different today, so if you have zero interest in makeup, that's cool you can just ignore this. For those of you that are (like me) beauty junkies I'm going to tell you about some of my favorite spring products!

So these are the main products I am featuring in this blog post. From foundation to lipstick, I've got you covered. I'm thinking about doing a favorites foundation post, so if you would like to see that let me know!

So the first thing of all makeup, foundation! I picked out 2 foundations for this post. My favorite is Touche Eclat from YSL but the other day I re-discovered my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. The YSL foundation has a very light coverage, with a more dewy finish. It looks very good on young skin, as it's pretty growly and has light coverage. My only issue with this foundation is it doesn't last throughout the day. It's good for school or work, but it doesn't make it into the night. On the other hand the Vitalumiere Aqua is a VERY different foundation. This foundation is good for oily skin types, and has a medium coverage. It has a matte finish, but it has incredible lasting power and is a beautiful staple foundation.

Here we have 2 lip products. Mac Peach Blossom and a CO Bigelow lipgloss. The Mac shade is a very light, creamy pink and the lipgloss is clear but, it smells like chocolate. It's seriously heavenly.

Here's a highlight product. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect highlight. I've tried Mac, NARS, Benefit, and others and am still on the hunt. This is the NARS one in Albatross, it has a beautiful luminescent glow, but if you have dry skin it does cling to your skin a bit more.

Here's a new blush I have picked up from a brand called The Balm. This is a great dupe for NARS Orgasm, it has the same gold flecks and light pink color. But it's half the price. It gives a gorgeous natural color to your cheeks, and it is suitable for any skin color.

Almost last, we have eyeshadow.  I'm picking a palette first off, because I know a ton of people have this, and the Naked 3 Palette is rose gold inspired. So every color in here is perfect for Spring. For Mac shades I have Naked Lunch and Nylon.

Lastly, here are some eyeliners, Mascara, and eye brightener. For eyeliners I picked Maybelline Lash Stilleto and a Makeup Forever Blue Liner. Cat eyes and flicks were on the runway so much for spring, along with metallics and gloss. The Maybelline is your typical black, but the Makeup Forever one is a gorgeous Metallic Blue Color, similar to what Taylor Swift wore to the Grammys this year. I picked my favorite Mascara of the moment, which is the Smashbox eye-brightening mascara. And for more eye-brightening I picked a bareMinerals product. This product has a gorgeous white, almost glossy glow. It really does make your eyes and face light up and look more awake.

Hope you all enjoyed!

I'll be back soon!! xxx

A Perfect Saturday Afternoon

Hey Everyone! So I wanted to do a post about my Saturday afternoon spent in Shadyside. First off my outfit. I wore pinstripe pants (yay!), my white turtle neck, and converse. This outfit is 100% inspired by WeWoreWhat aka Danielle Bernstein. Anyway, this is Shadyside:

We went to Walnut Street, which is a popular shopping location. Sephora and American Apparel within 50 feet? I think yes.

Here's a few more pics of my outfit:

We also hit up a cute coffee shop, and an adorable flower shop.

Please enjoy these fun out-takes:

Is this not the coolest collection of paintings ever?? We've got out republicans and farther down our democrats. America.

The gorgeous Caroline, who acted as my photographer today.

I hope you all have a great weekend! xx
