Rebel Wear

Hey all! Look what's back, the old background! I wanted to do a more grungy inspired outfit today. If you follow my style, it quite often switches from very put together looks to 90's and 80's grunge looks. (I hate using that term, but that's the best way to describe it.)

As you can see, I'm wearing my vintage look alike Rolling Stones Tee. This is the back:

It's not an actual vintage version, but it's the exact same as the vintage one. Band T-Shirts are such cool accent pieces, I think everyone could at least use one.

Here's the back of the jacket:

Tomorrow I am going downtown, so hopefully I will get some cool pictures for a nice weekend blog post! xx

Black Like My Soul

Leather, black clothing, and beanies. Three of my favorite things.

Still cold, so here is this look with my parka.

And...this is my look under the leather jacket. This dress is actually just a tank dress, but I added a crop top under because it's freezing still.

It's Like the 90's All Over Again

Clearly my Chucks and rolled up jeans are a 90's inspiration. I get bored of doing the same thing all the time, so I like to experiment with outfits a lot. I was a bit weary about wearing rolled up jeans, converse, and tights...but I though it actually had a very cool vintage look to it.

Let's notice my lame black knee high tights under my jeans. I don't even know, really. All I can say is it's cold.

My Birthday Weekend

Hey Everyone! So Friday was my birthday, and I wanted to share some pics from my weekend with you!

Here is a more close up picture of my makeup.

I used Nylon by Mac and one of the brown shades in the Naked 3 Palette. Of course, I applied falsies and wore my favorite lipstick, Mac Heroine.

And my new favorite necklace! xx

My Saturday was shared with extended family members who were visiting town. Here is my makeup:

And the best part of my weekend: Making Macarons!

Here was a disastrous first batch...

But we didn't give up, and the second batch (and a new recipe) proved effective.

This is a great recipe if you are looking for an easy, basic one, that is very detailed.

Hope you all have a great week! xx

My Hair Journey

Hey everyone! So last night I made a trip to Lush to pick up some hair care products. I know a lot of people love Lush's Bath Bombs and other products, but for me that place is all about the hair. If you follow me on Instagram, or have seen any previous blog posts you know I have curly hair. Very long, ombred, unruly curly hair. So I want to share my hair care routine for all the other curlies out there. Enjoy! xxx

First off, I'm going to give you some back story on my hair to tell you why I use these specific products. When I was 8 I found out I had Alopecia. If you don't know what Alopecia is, basically it is an auto immune disease that attacks the hair follicles... thus your hair falls out. I have only had 2 very minor cases of Alopecia, the most recent about 7 years ago. The first time I had Alopecia I lost a 2-3cm circle of hair. This hair has never grown back. It's unnoticeable but to someone who has had Alopecia before, it's a constant reminder that your hair can fall out. With that being said, I do not dye the roots of my hair, and nor will I ever. I also like using Lush products because I find they use many more natural ingredients and less chemicals, which gives me a sort of peace of mind regarding my Alopecia.

Now my hair in general is very dry as I assume most curly girls' hair are. I started using Lush 2 years ago and noticed a drastic improvement in my hair. It wasn't nearly as dry, frizzy, and unmanageable as it had been. Ever since then I've been using it. Anytime I switch back to regular Shampoos or Conditioner, I can't get a comb through my hair and I get massive amounts of breakage. So if you have curly hair, I highly recommend these products.

These are the products I purchased. In the past I have used other Lush conditioners and shampoos but I don't find them thick enough for my hair.

Step 1: Hair Masks (1-2 times a week)

This product is called Marilyn. My first impressions of this product were general amazement. Marilyn is for blondes (natural or dyed). Because my hair is ombred, I am always on the hunt for something to make me blonder and to make my hair softer. First off, this product smells great. Some of the Lush products have a wacky smell, but Marilyn has a very soft herbal, floral scent to it. It's not overpowering at all though. Because I just started using it, I will have to update on whether I see my  hair getting blonder, but it definitely looked much shiner and less brassy today, after one use. This product also made my hair SO soft. I was actually astounded. I left it in for about 25 minutes, then rinsed it out and my hair has never been softer.

Step 2: Shampoo (3-4 times a week)

The Shampoo product I use from Lush is called Daddy-O. Again, this is also designed for blondes to keep your hair from going brassy, and it's another incredible product. I've been using this product for 10 months now and my blonde hair is definitely lighter. When I had my ombre done the second time, I asked for a more golden hue than a bright blonde. I began using this product and over the period of a few months, my hair became lighter and more defined. I was thrilled. My hair is actually lighter now than it was 10 months ago. My ombre has also lasted much longer. The first time I ombred my hair I had it done at the end of December 2012 then had to re-ombre it in early May. So roughly 4.5 months. I've now had my most recent ombre since May, and I haven't had to go back to get it lightened because of this product. It's a miracle and a huge money saver.

Step 3: Conditioner (Everyday to Every other day)

This product is called Retread. It is by far my favorite product by Lush, and I would say anyone with Curly hair, or thick hair should purchase this product. It's an extremely moisturizing, and thick conditioner. I also like the smell of this. This is my all around favorite product Lush sells.

Step 4: Leave in Conditioner

R&B Hair Moisturizer is another life saver. I was given a sample of this a few years ago when it came out, loved it, and for some reason never repurchased it. Mostly because it's $22 a tub. But, I can assure you, if you have dry hair of any sort, you need this product. It has a very butter like constancy, and it another very thick product. The trick to using this, is knowing how much to use, I barely use any, because if I use to much my hair get's greasy and icky. I use maybe a quarter size amount on my all of my hair at one time, and that's good for me. I don't use this product all the time, because I sometimes forget, but you could definitely use it every time you wash your hair. My only issue with R&B is I really don't like the smell. It's not really a bad smell but I don't really like it. Although I find in the morning when I wake up the smell is much less powerful and I can barely smell it anymore. So it's not really that big of a deal. In my opinion though, the product is worth the smell.

Step 5: Fix my Split Ends

First off, I really should get a hair cut. It's been almost 2 years since my last, but I can't bring myself to get one. So if you're anything like me, or you heat style your hair this product is great. It's a very small container and it's in a hard wax form. You can use your fingers to melt this product and I apply it to all my ends, my bangs, and any flyaways. I noticed this really helped make my ends look healthier, and also defined the end of my curls, where my curls sometimes get lose and tangled. I adore the scent of this product. It's like perfume for your hair.

So that's my favorite Lush Products/My General Hair Care Routine. The only Lush products I don't like that I have previously used are Curly-Wurly, Veganese, and American Cream.

Oh also, It's Raining Men smells like pure heaven...so if anyone wants to buy me that.

Here are the most recent pics of my hair:

I'm a Teenage Runaway Today

I went super casual today in my DIY hoodie and leggings.

I might do a makeup post later but I had on red lipstick and, in my opinion, the most perfect flicks I have ever drawn. Anyway, this is just my simple green and black Saturday outfit.

If you guys want to try DIY out it is super easy. I went to Gabriel's and bought a crew neck for $5 and got iron on letters. It takes like an hour to make and I get so many compliments on my DIY crew necks!

Pleats and Snow Covered Streets

Hey Everyone! So I realize my outfit today is a bit of an oddity, as it involves pleats and a midi skirt. (Both of which can get Grandma-ish.) Yet, it's possible to keep pleated skirts young and mod, believe it or not. Here's how I wore it.

When it doubt, crop top it out.

It's just such a snow covered day here. Although, I don't recommend cutout boots... I got snow in my shoe more than a few times.

Hope you all have a great Thursday. Also, Happy Almost Valentine's Day, or as I call it Single's Awareness day. Anyone want to date me? No? Okay. xx

Monday Blues

No, I'm not too sad today. (Well if I was at fashion week and didn't have an essay to write life would be better.) Today I went for a casual blue/grey look featuring jeans. Shocking. The last time I wore jeans was maybe 8 months ago.

I guess I can be somewhat pleasant on a Monday wearing jeans.
